Spam traps are email addresses or systems used by Internet Service Providers (ISPs), anti-spam organizations, or cybersecurity firms to identify and catch spammers. These email addresses don’t belong to real users and are never actively used to sign up for email lists.
Most of those email addresses that were never owned by a real person and are deliberately placed on websites or public domains in places where they shouldn’t be harvested. If an email list collects these addresses, it indicates that the sender may be scraping addresses from the internet or purchasing lists, both of which are practices considered spammy.
Sending emails to spam traps can severely damage a sender's reputation with ISPs and email service providers, leading to higher chances of emails being flagged as spam or blocked entirely!
